Who we are

PJR Dresden e.V. is a recognized independent youth welfare organization with special expertise in the field of extracurricular education for children and young people. Our aim is to create a broad range of socio-political education for young people aged 10 - 26. The PJR Dresden e.V. is non-partisan and non-partisan.

We give volunteers the opportunity to test themselves in various areas, take on responsibility and gain experience that shapes their personalities. You will be supported by two full-time educational specialists.

What we do

We organize one-day or multi-day seminars and workshops, guided tablet tours, simulation games, youth encounters, seminar and memorial site trips (Berlin, Buchenwald, Terezin). We are open to the ideas of our volunteers. Past topics have included extremism, racism, social media and youth participation.
We also meet with our volunteers in thematic working groups to discuss the topics of racism and extremism and to revise and expand our educational programs and make them accessible to new target groups.

These are our cooperation partners

We work closely with schools, other youth work and youth education organizations, voluntary service providers and various foundations to promote our social cause. For example, we are a member of the Plauen District Round Table, the municipal specialist working group for extracurricular children and youth education and the Tolerant Saxony network. We are also a member of Stadtjugendring Dresden e.V.

In this form, the PJR Dresden e.V. is unique in Dresden.

A look back

The PJR Dresden was founded after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990 in the tradition of the Round Tables by politically committed pupils and students of various political orientations. Originally, the association functioned as a grassroots umbrella organization of local political youth associations in Dresden.

Since 1995, the PJR Dresden has been a registered association of politically interested young people of various political orientations on a voluntary basis. Its aim is to provide a broad range of socio-political education.

Since 1999, we have been a recognized independent youth welfare organization with special expertise in the field of extracurricular education for children and young people.

Since 2000, the PJR has organized an annual youth exchange between young Germans and Russians from Dresden and Kaliningrad, which was initiated by Andreas Wendler. In 2002, we received the "Certificate of Honor for Civic Involvement in Russia" from the German-Russian Forum.

We have been working with the Saxon Youth Foundation since 2003 and every year we take on a volunteer for an FSJP - Voluntary Social Year in Politics.

Since 2015, we have maintained a partnership with the "German Youth" in Lviv, Ukraine. Since 2016, we have also offered one European Solidarity Corps participant the opportunity to complete a year of voluntary service with us every year.

In 2016, our Actionbound tours on historical and political topics won third prize from the State Agency for Civic Education in the "Impulses for Civic Education" competition. The prize was awarded on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the regional center.

In summer 2018, we were joined by the two projects Poli-Tour and Filmclubs, which aim to reach young people via digital tablet tours and self-organized film events on political topics. The Politour project ended in 2020, the Filmclubs project in 2022.

In 2022, our projects in the field of extremism won the Crime Prevention Youth Welfare Award from the Dresden Youth Welfare Office.
